My name is Daniel Rusatsi, a young Rwandan artist based in Brisbane, Australia.

I grew up drawing constantly, filling entire books with sketches—mostly manga characters at the time. Drawing came naturally to me, but as I grew older, other interests took over and that connection slowly faded. I went several years without creating anything at all.

A few years ago, I rediscovered that part of myself through seeing other artists share their creative processes online. It reminded me of the enjoyment I once found in drawing and encouraged me to begin again.

What started as a hobby gradually became a serious creative practice. I began learning through online tutorials, professional courses and constant experimentation, developing skills across digital illustration, design, motion and visual storytelling. Over time, I became less interested in simply learning tools and more focused on building ideas, creating visual worlds and developing a style that feels recognisably my own.

Today, my work is centred on Rwandan culture. Every piece carries a connection to Rwanda—through its people, traditions, landscapes, clothing, symbols or memories—but I do not aim to present these elements literally. I reimagine them through my own perspective, combining culture with surrealism, cinematic storytelling and imagination.

Dreams by Rusatsi is where those worlds come together: a visual space shaped by where I come from, what I remember and what I imagine.
